In 1964 the Ford Motor Company was the leader in the pony car. This was due in whole because of the newly released Ford Mustang in late 1964. Once the new mustang was released it began to spin the hamster wheels of other car manufacturers in order to produce some of their own muscle cars. The lead Ford had with its mustang did not last long.In 1967 General Motors introduced to the public the New Chevrolet Camaro. The Camaro looked better, was built better, was much faster and just basically outperformed the Mustang in all aspects. In order to get back in the game Ford knew they had to do something and they had to do something fast before it was too late. Immediately after the release of the Camaro, Ford began to work on creating the perfect engine that could outperform anything Chevy could put out. In 1969 the Ford Motor Company released the new 302 V8 engine. This engine was immediately placed in their 1969 Mustang per Fords' boss, hence the name 1969 Boss 302. In 1970 Ford produced several more Boss 302 Mustangs' and were a huge success. 1969-1970 were the only two years Ford released the "Boss", until now. In 2011 Ford Motor Company brought back and released the 2012 Boss 302. This got a lot of people excited and very anxious to get one.
The 2012 is leaner and meaner than its predecessor. The 2012 has 444 horsepower and an MSRP of $40,310 for the standard package and $6,995 extra for the Laguna Seca racing package. The standard package and the Laguna Seca package include all of the same engine components, but differ in some options that make the vehicle race ready. The standard package or the 500A comes with the 6-speed 302 V8 engine, 19 inch machined aluminum wheels and adjustable front and rear shocks. The Laguna Seca or the 501A package comes with the same included options of the 500A in addition to a helical differential, gauge package, unique rear springs and sway bar, race tires and a few other bells and whistles in order for you to take a few laps in style. The 2012 Boss 302 was released in the summer of 2011 and hit car dealers in limited uantities. Not much is known on how many Ford will make but it can be a safe guess that it won't be that many. Do not expect dealers to deviate from the MSRP too much.
